The Recipe exhibition explores the multifaceted relationship between contemporary art and food. German and Hungarian artists investigate how food can become a medium of identity formation or a tool for intercultural dialogue. The physical and cultural meanings of food ingredients are paralleled with the materials of artworks, while the pieces address pressing issues of the food industry, sustainability, and society.

The exhibition highlights installations and objects that recontextualize everyday items. Abandoned, functionless materials are transformed, imbued with new aesthetic and symbolic significance. Paintings and watercolors subtly reference the future possibilities of industrial insect farming, reflecting on the challenges of climate change and sustainability.

The onion, a recurring motif, embodies layers of simplicity, fragility, and provocative sensuality. Its scent, texture, and brittleness offer a direct sensory experience, while its associations with social taboos – tears, kneading, and odor – become performative elements in the edible installations presented at the opening.

Visitors can take home Zoé HEGEDÜS' Käsespätzle recipe, symbolizing the intersection of communal dining and artistic creation.

During the first accompanying program, the Spätzle Workshop, participants will develop alternative kitchen tools from various materials and explore new, creative dining experiences, culminating in a shared dinner atmosphere. The workshop will be held on 8 March from 3 pm at Project Space.
