Hristo Kaloyanov (1996) is an independent curator and critic based in Sofia, Bulgaria. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in "Cultural Studies" and a master's degree in "Arts and Modernity" at Sofia University. He writes theatre and art criticism and mainly publishes in Portal “Kultura” and “Atelier”, Cultural Center of Sofia University.

As a curator, he explores the possibility of independent practice in a fragmented context. Along these lines, he works both in abandoned or found spaces, as well as with various institutions and festivals for contemporary art. He has worked on group and solo exhibitions with young or established artists. Significant attention in his practice is given to artistic research, visual curatorial experiments and working with archives.

In 2025 together with a collective he started the vitrine gallery LIRA at the residential building at Gurko 45, Sofia, focused on emerging artists, in an effort to present contemporary art as part of the building’s modernist architecture.

Some of his exhibitions include: "Postcards and Contraband" (2023), exhibition of Aaron Roth and Nikola Stoyanov at ReBonkers; "Nature Morte" (2023), exhibition of Nikola Stoyanov at Goethe-Institute Bulgaria; "Latent Space" (2022), Nikola Stoyanov's solo exhibition at Doza Gallery; "A Lucid Space" (2022), a solo exhibition by Elena Chergilanova at Espace Port.A; the group exhibition "Temporary Crisis" (2022) within the Sofia Underground festival; the curatorial study on cinematic corners and turns "KINO CUT" (2021) within the sixth edition of the kvARTal festival; the successive projects "RE:Process" (2022) Archis Gallery, Varna and "In Process" (2021), KO-OP space, Sofia, together with the artist Nikola Stoyanov; the group exhibition "Temporary Matrix" (2020) within the Sofia Art Week III - Swan Song festival.
