“There is no dead matter; deadness is merely an appearance behind which unknown forms of life are hidden.” – Bruno Schulz
Does the unconscious have a language at all, and if so, how might we imagine it: as line, stain, organ, matter or space? What happens when a drawing leaves the paper and becomes body, water, stretched membrane or a flesh-like surface? In Attila Galbovy’s exhibition (feat Borisz Galbovy), drawing and installation become parts of the same process of transformation: the exhibition space turns into a walk-in still image, while bodily memory condenses into matter and image.
