Syntropic is the happening that plunges into the labyrinth of the mind, where syntropy—the counterforce to entropy—collides with unconsciousness. The attractors sharpen the focus on ideas’ role in recognizing shapes and forms and vice versa. Thoughts are dissected as dynamic entities: mirrored, fractured, looped, and reconstituted. When attractors interact with entropic systems, life emerges.
“Life, as such, does not exist”, said Albert Szent-Györgyi, a Budapest-born biochemist, introducing the concept of syntropy as necessary to solve the paradox that evolution proceeds blindly and purposelessly, violating the second law of thermodynamics.
The main characteristic of evolution, its tendency to decrease entropy, implies, according to him, that there must exist an “innate force” in all living things that functions to counteract entropy and improve the organism.
Imagine a world where living systems are guided by attractors retroacting from the future. This idea crystallizes in the 1920s phenomenon of blue tits pioneering milk-bottle foraging: once a few birds pierced the foil caps for cream, flocks hundreds of miles apart, with no contact or shared lineage, replicated the behavior. Rupert Sheldrake framed this as morphic resonance, a hypothesized non-local transfer of behavioral patterns. The birds’ synchronicity suggests knowledge broadcast through a morphic field, transcending spatial barriers to imprint collective memory.
Syntropy, as opposed to the disorder of entropy, postulates the existence of a force that causes living things to reach higher and higher levels of organization, order and dynamic harmony. What if these innate forces—attractors pulling from tomorrow’s shores to sculpt today’s life—are but living entities, evolving as they evolve us?
The exhibition is a play inside the Studio Space in aqb, near the Danube river, presenting different elements to the stage, from a multimedia installation, to an improvised performance. At its core is the video art series Aqua Mirabilis, abstract fresh-water video close-ups displayed across some old Televisions through an analog video modulator. An improvised music flows into the space, played by the Italian artists UBE + Praux, with a long mesmerizing collaboration together in Aleatorio delle Arti. Márton, a Hungarian Qi Gong master, graces the space with slow, deliberate movements, exuding elegance and control, fostering a meditative ambiance that invites the audience to contemplate with him. Josef Ka, an enigmatic Nordic performer delves into an exploration of inner and outer strengths and weaknesses, conveying a profound emotional journey through expressive gestures and introspective expressions. An intuitive-dancer, with a sweet yet resilient presence, Bianka, moves with a personal grace, her movement and presence reflect a journey of healing, each step telling a story of moments. Green plants and laser lights are gathered around the space, filled with haze, observing as the past and the future merge.
