"Gaps in the Void" follows the idea of absolute accumulation, treating sound as events in time that expand from sparse rhythms to dense clouds of sound over a 35 min long journey. Within that period it questions the extremes of auditory perception in terms of spatial traceability and stimulation/over-stimulation.
The material of the piece was recorded live during the 2 week residency and has evolved from a sound-practise that was performed in multichannel setups in the last 5 years.
Christian Konrad Schröder lives and works in Vienna, Austria. After studying sound related art at the University of applied Arts Vienna, the Bauhaus University Weimar, the University of Music Franz Liszt and the Institute for contemporary art in Moscow he now works in a niche between fine arts, performance and composition. As a solo artist and as part of the artist group "Kollektiv/Rauschen", his/their works have been presented at the Architectural Biennale Venice, Project Fabrika Moscow, Pioneer Works New York, the Fonoteca Nacional CDMX and TBA 21 gallery Vienna.
