READING THE ROOM is an ongoing improvisational and performative practice that invites the audience to witness a journey of investigating precarious routines of increasing the sensitivity of attention. It tries to braid the multitude of strands of information and possibilities to braid them into one singularity.

The term "reading the room" refers to an ability to pick up subtle, non-verbal cues of group of people, understanding the mood and the atmosphere of a social situation. In addition to this the performance explores how the locality (physical parameters, the genius loci and the context) informs the performance where it takes place.

The “ROOM” is autonomous and erratic. Only the ones who are willing to step across the threshold and lean closer towards it will hear its message. The “ROOM” will be present and will try to make contact. While some draws parallel between the room of the Zone (Stalker), the waiting room of The Black Lodge (Twin Peaks) and The Swedenborgs Room (Riget) it distances itself from those.

The performance balances on the edge of the obvious, it is over the top while it falls below any standards.

Reading the Room is back in aqb. It appeared and was developed earlier this year in a dressing room of Tala Dance Center hosted by DIVERT in Zagreb. In the Café of Mu theater in Budapest hosted by DanceShop. In an art studio at Zymurgy performance night at aqb, in a train station waiting room at Bánkitó Festival, and in the backstage of Artus, Budapest.
