|Opening:||11/19/2022 19:00 (Sat)|
|Duration:||11/19 - 11/19/2022|
We kindly invite you to the presentation of Matthias Megyeri, our former resident from Stuttgart, who was here with the help of Akademie Schloss Solitude exchange program.
Matthias will share with us the video documentation of a two day workshop he made together with the students of FreeSzfe, a choreography developed as a public intervention somewhere in Budapest, to make use of the assumed authority perceived in security guards and stage an appropriate action.
About the artist
Matthias Megyeri is an artist and designer of security products, dubbed "placebo products" that mix cuteness with defensive design.
Born in 1973, studied graphic design with a focus on political posters at the Karlsruhe University of Design and critical design at the Royal College of Art in London. Megyeri was Fellow at the Akademie Schloss Solitude Stuttgart, and taught as a guest professor at the University of the Arts in Berlin. His works are represented in the Museum of Modern Art New York and the Ludwig Museum of Contemporary Art, Budapest. He is based in Stuttgart and London.
With a background in visual communication and critical design, Megyeri’s work characteristically derives from a genuine interest in public space as a medium that holds the possibility for an open democratic discourse. His installations and interventions compel through ambivalence rather than dogma.
