Art Quarter Budapest invites the art community to the presentation of Grey Cube Projects who is one of our reisdents this month. John Angel Rodriguez and Andres Londoño (Kunstomerservice) will be speaking about their projects and collaborative working model.

Grey Cube Projects is an itinerant site of cultural production and trans-disciplinary research. The presence in international scenarios is pivotal for the projection of GCP; for this reason, we have created an exchange and residency program that allows us to exchange ideas and join efforts, with similar projects in other latitudes. It is essential to highlight the dynamics of the collaborative work of GCP. We establish partnerships with independent and non-profit initiatives that incorporate alternative models for the creation of artistic projects.

GREY CUBE PROJECTS is a curatorial platform devoted to contemporary art that establishes multiple transversal interventions within the techno-scientific knowledge. In this exercise, the installation and the site-specific intervention try to be a natural trigger for the spectator. We work in partnership with different associates and strategic allies (art galleries, art institutions, and academic institutions, among others). We are a multi-disciplinary team led by an independent art curator (John Angel Rodriguez). Our mission is to establish a springboard onto an artist's world, making connections between their work and broader interests as creative thinkers. GCP is also a non-profit initiative, which independent format enables the creation of curatorial activities devoted to new media — conceiving new media as the exploration of thoughts assisted by the different areas of knowledge. Therefore we execute reciprocal exchanges and collaborations between different cultural agents and artistic spaces in a global context of interaction with an international program of circulation.

Andrés R. Londoño is Kunstomerservice. Studied Fine Arts (BA) at the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University, Bogotá and got an MFA at the Bauhaus Universität-Weimar in “Public Art and New Artistic Strategies”. His practice as an artist has aimed at the knowledge and research of various scenarios that define the arts world including different strategies to develop exhibitions and events. Popular culture also plays an important role in his artistic approach. In 2005 he started Kunstomerservice in London defined as a customer service for the arts with aesthetic results. He has been invited to participate in solo exhibitions at the Alliance Française Bogotá (2009), Colombo American Centre Bogotá (2010) and the Museum of Art in Pereira, Colombia (2011) among others. His work has been shown in Mexico, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Perú, Venezuela, Uruguay, United Kingdom, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland and Germany.

The term Kunstomerservice comes from the linked words “kunst” and customer service, in which “kunst” means art in German language. (A customer service for the arts). Kunstomerservice is a help desk provided to meet the opinions generated by the public, it provides a platform to all the people that accidentally, incidentally or premeditatedly becomes involved in the visual arts. It has got to get involved with the public, asking for complaints, suggestions and achievements. In that order the service creates a dialog that is intended to generate an aesthetical result. When not present in the middle of the field, develops a practice that intends to create collective experiences maintaining the policies of dialogue and interchange within the public. As a brand, Kunstomerservice also provides aesthetical results from its own image and logo.
