Gergely Fodor

Gergely Fodor

Beginning in the mid-1990s, I spent 25 years in the creative industry, progressing from graphic designer and art director to Creative Director. Eventually I moved into international film production, creating visual concepts for projects such as Poor Things, Nuremberg, and the upcoming Ebenezer, among others. However, outside of work I try to spend every spare moment in the studio, as it is painting that rewards me with a sense of complete peace and harmony.

In my work as a concept artist, image-making is driven by storytelling, and every detail exists to serve the subject’s narrative. In my paintings, on the other hand, I venture into a more abstract realm, somewhere between perceived reality and pure expression. Through repeated re-creation, I attempt to strip concepts such as solitude, silence, the beauty of the body and nature of their conventional meanings, slowly reinventing them as something distinctly my own.
