Nathalie Brum (*1988, Katowice) is a German-Polish sound artist, architect, and writer based in Cologne.
Her practice explores the poetic potential of technology through site-specific media art, ambient drone soundscapes, and immersive installations in public space. Working at the intersection of architecture, sonic research, and social inquiry, Brum creates subtle yet transformative interventions into everyday environments.
Brum’s compositions—often minimal, atmospheric, and rooted in field recordings—are shaped into spatial experiences that blur the boundaries between memory, material, and machine. Alongside her installation work, she produces radio features and experimental broadcasts, extending her sonic narratives into the public sphere. Brum’s work invites audiences to listen more closely—to spaces, to systems, and to what often remains unheard.
She is the co-founder of grapefruits, a zine about women in sound, and regularly publishes in architectural journals such as Baunetz id and DBZ. In 2022, she received the Emerging Visual Artist Award from the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. Her works have been presented among others at Skulpturenmuseum Marl, Museum Kunstpalast Düsseldorf, Viktoriabad Bonn, K21 Ständehaus Düsseldorf, Gallery Auge&Welt Aachen and Theater der Altstadt Stuttgart.
