Soft Coordinates

Soft Coordinates is a performance evening featuring artists from Central and Eastern Europe, unfolding within the ever-evolving relationships between spaces, bodies, and signs. Rather than fixed positions, the works emerge as sensitive points of contact. The event explores how presence is distorted and distributed within shared time and space.

Through various media, the presented works reveal how the relationships between body, space, and memory overwrite one another. The tension between the rational systems of modernist architecture and the bodies moving within them; the historical and personal memory layered into the landscape; the choreography of physical and social tension accumulating in the body; and the destructive oversaturation of light and vision all delineate situations where coordinates become uncertain. Instead of fixing stable points, the works capture shifting, reciprocal relations in which presence is constantly subject to recalibration.

The participating artists are linked by a shared experience: over the past year, they were all fellows of the Akademie Schloss Solitude residency exchange program, spending months together in Stuttgart. The Solitude Exchange Network (SEN) is itself a continuously evolving collaboration, which, following previous meetings in Bucharest and Warsaw, is holding its annual event this year in Budapest.
