„The Rub is composed of hundreds of appropriated 35 mm strips. The strips are manipulated by the directors’ (Péter Lichter and Bori Máté) hand– through painting, bleaching and other direct animation techniques. The most important technique was the „decaying”: the filmmakers has dug the filmtrips into the soil, and left there to be rotted. Each and every frame is photographed, and the end, 30,000 digital images are edited together to intimate Hamlet’s singular, vacillating state-of-mind." - the creators said about the film.
The Rub is not distributed in the traditional way: With the newly launched Soldivision alternative film distribution, audiences can not see the movie in the usual way, but in previously unannounced venues, alternative spaces and with alternative programs, in intermedialic meetings involving different fields of art and pop up events. The next screening of The Rub will be at AQB.

The Rub is a radical and lyrical retelling of Shakespeare’s Hamlet from within the mind of the protagonist. Found footage, drawn from dozens of different films, creates hypnotic imagery that combines with Hamlet’s narration to create a new vision of the brooding Dane’s experience. We can hear the new Hungarian translation of Hamlet by Ádám Nádasdy from Szabolcs Hajdu actor also known as a film director.
