Krzysztof Gutfrański is a curator, editor, and writer whose contextual research practice explores alternative education, value theory, and the power of non-functional thinking in our rapidly changing world.
Gutfrański has held numerous fellowships and residencies, including the Documenta Institute in Kassel (2022), the Weltoffenes Berlin fellowship from the Senate Department for Culture and Europe (2021), and a fellowship at Akademie Schloss Solitude (2019-2020), where he curated a month-long festival celebrating the institution's 30th anniversary. He has also participated in research residencies and curatorial projects funded by institutions such as the Getty, Creative Europe, and the Fundação Nacional de Artes.
In addition to his research, Gutfrański has worked extensively in publishing, exploring media in the age of information overload. He served as editor-in-chief of ALTERNATIVA - International Contemporary Visual Arts Festival / Wyspa Institute of Arts in Gdańsk from 2010 to 2015, and more recently as editor-in-chief of Obieg magazine, published by CCA Ujazdowski in Warsaw, from 2016 to 2020.
Gutfrański's residency was supported by the Culture Moves Europe programme.
